Amanda is an artist based out of Central Ohio. She started off by doodling relentlessly in her elementary schoolbooks, and eventually, her doodles ventured beyond her schoolbooks, and landed in more ideal sketching books. As these sketchbooks grew in numbers, Amanda realized that she had some talent. Fortunately, living in Central Ohio gave Amanda access to the Columbus College of Art & Design, where she continued her education after highschool and graduated in May 2010 with her BFA as an Illustration Major, and a Fine Arts Minor. She is currently working professionally, and travels around the country to exhibit at comic and anime conventions. She owns her own business, Amanda Scharf Illustration, L.L.C.
Amanda's inspirations comes from her family, friends, her horse, and her love for Italian and Japanese culture. When she's not at work, or working on personal art projects, she can most likely be found with her nose in front of a video game, absorbed in her comics or a good novel, or outside in the field with her horse and two Golden Retrievers. Artist Statement:
My goal is to leave my mark in society by creating illustrations that push and redefine the lines that separate illustration and fine art. I believe my art to be “thought provoking”, but not in a sense of how an art piece makes someone feel, but rather, I’m trying to provoke the idea that the viewer might try to figure out what is going on in my head.
By using mixed media I create illustrations that intertwine precise line art with collage of oriental papers to create stunning, and abstract designs and vignettes that create unique narratives.
I use an array of software to create digital 2D and 3D work, and a Wacom Cintiq. These digital pieces range from loose, sketchy, conceptual compositions to highly-rendered, finished pieces.
I create abstract acrylic paintings as a venue to express an uncontrolled, irrational parts of my everday thought process that gets harnessed through my extremely-defined illustrations and graphic design work.
Amanda Scharf Illustration, L.L.C. is a small buisness focused to provide a wide variety of clients with a wide variety of artistic services. From doing freelance graphic design work for large, national chain stores, to smaller-scale, family owned and operated businesses, to accepting individual painting commissions for private, in-home galleries. Amanda Scharf Illustration, L.L.C. strives to meet and exceed its' clients demands and expectations with excellent and professional work ethic, and artistic capability.
